Red Eye Red Ale
Brewed: 6/16/2017 Kegged: 7/23/2017

I raised money by telling people I would ride 660 miles during the month of June.
My newest LHBS (Broadway Brew Supply) saw me on the social media sites begging for money and asked if they could get involved.
Ummmm ... sure ... yes ... of course.
I thought they meant they would share my page url on their social media sites. It turns out they had something much more awesome in mind.
Every month, Broadway Brew Supply does a thing that they call "Kits for Change". Basically, they partner with a local brewery and put together a home brew kit to clone one of the brewery's beers.
The proceeds from the sales of those kits go to charity.
For the Month of June 2017, they were nice enough to use "my" charity as the one the kits would benefit.
Of course I had to get one.

Brewing Notes
6/19/2017 Brewed on 6/16. Took a few days for the yeast to start up. It is going now, though.
6/23/2017 There is something wrong with this beer. Has the same mildew flavor I got when I tried brewing T.Ra.Sh. Light Mexican Lager last June. I'm afraid I'm going to have to dump this. Wish I knew what I did to screw this up. Bummer.
7/11/2017 Over the weekend, I racked into secondary with 6oz of coffee and some honey to kick up fermentation again. The mildew flavor was not as bad as I remembered from the initial taste, so maybe this is salvageable.
7/22/2017 Still waiting for a keg. I think I'll kill one tonight. The coffee flavor is making this beer more tolerable.
7/23/2017 Kegged. This is the best this beer has tasted. Not a great beer, but it is tasting pretty good. ☕
7/29/2017 Had a taste. Actually tasting pretty good. Going to have to chill and carb it.
8/6/2017 Not my favorite. Might end up dumping after all.
8/12/2017 Feeling ok with the flavor at the moment.
8/13/2017 Blending this with my saison is the best way to drink this beer. Made delicious bbq sauce with it today.
8/19/2017 Yep. I'll be dumping this once the Rocktoberfest is ready to be kegged. In the meantime, I am using for soaking brats or other sauces requiring beer.
8/26/2017 Dumped it. The keg was about half empty. Earlier in my brewing "career" I probably would have finished this keg. Rocktoberfest will replace this beer.
