Blackberry in Bed American Wheat

Brewed: 4/19/2019 Kegged: 5/2/2019

A little before Easter 2019, I was looking to brew a beer that The SheppyBrew Beer Model would like to have on tap.

bamALam.jpgAt some point she had mentioned that she would like a Blackberry Wheat.

The Brew Master has a history of using the Summer Lovin' American Wheat as a base for fruit beers. Essentially, a Blackberry Wheat is exactly like Boo Berry American Wheat with the obvious substitution.

I considered a number of names.

Back in Blackberry would be an obvious nod to the AC/DC song "Back in Black".

I thought "Never Go Back Blackberry Wheat" might work.

Some other song titles with "Black" in the title were considered.

After brew day was done ... The Beer Model said she thought "Whoa, Black Berry Bam-ba-Lam" would be a good name. Not sure why she suggested it so long after it was too late.

In the end, I decided to go with "Blackberry in Bed" in honor of the Squeeze Song "Black Coffee in Bed". I have fond memories of college parties with beer while listening to that song.

Plus, I didn't see this beer name on untappd. I didn't have to worry about "cease and desist" orders from other breweries for this name.

It is a simple recipe with nice fruit flavor. Easy drinking and beautiful.

Recipe Notes
Name sort of a play on the Squeeze Song "Black Coffee in Bed"
Considered calling this beer: "Back in Blackberry"; "Never Go Back Blackberry Wheat"; "Black Water Blackberry Wheat"; "Blackberry Shuck"
Brew as a normal wheat beer. Ferment 60 - 65 for a few days. Transfer to secondary on top of the can of blueberry puree.
Add blackberry flavoring at kegging time to taste. Start with 2oz and add another .5oz if you think it needs more blueberry aroma. Repeat until the flavor works.
