Puppy Monkey Baby
Brewed: 11/22/2020 Kegged: 12/4/2020
2020 wasn't great. COVID sucked. Murder Hornets sucked. Racism, and police brutality sucked. Riots sucked. Forest fires sucked. Not being able to go to concerts, movies, sporting events, and beer festivals sucked. Travel restrictions sucked. The election sucked.
Shelter in Place sucked. Remote learning sucked.
It just wasn't a very good year.
On the plus side, I was able to brew a lot. I had lots of homebrewed beer in 2020.
Some might say I had too much, but those people would be wrong.
Around Thanksgiving of 2020, I decided I wanted to brew a super simple, low alcohol, but hopefully delicious ale.
I came up with this recipe to be my forth batch of beer on my Anvil Foundry.
Why did I name it "Puppy Monkey Baby". I don't know. I just thought it would be a funny beer name.
I have a weird sense of humor.
Puppy Monkey Baby is an easy drinking blonde ale designed to be drunk in quantity without making me too sleepy.
We'll see how I did in a couple of weeks.

For more information on this beer, see Sheppy's Blog: Puppy Monkey Baby.

Brewing Notes
11/19/2020 Bought ingredients at Tom's Brew Shop.
11/22/2020 Brew day today. Mash started around 5:20. Timer was set to begin around 4am. Probably should have started it sooner or left it inside for preheat. Oh well. It's going now.
11/22/2020 Brew day went well. Preboil gravity was high, so I diluted with .5 gallon. OG right on at 1.040. Turns out hydra does fit... just real tight. Wort into fermentor was very full of trub. Yeast pitched around 9am. Cleanup done by 9:40.
11/27/2020 I think this is ready to keg whenever one comes free. Pale color. Decently clear. Nice aroma from air lock.
12/3/2020 Just keeps getting more and more beautiful. Calendar says to keg today, but need to finish Lithuanian Autumn.
12/4/2020 Kegged. 1.008 FG makes this a 4.2% ABV beer. Nice flavor. Simple easy to drink. A little hazy, but I'm sure it will clear up as it gets cold.
12/6/2020 Carbonation not quite there yet, but I've been drinking a bunch of these while smoking spare ribs.
12/8/2020 I like where this beer is now. Could be a little clearer, but carbonation is about perfect. Great malt flavor. Like the crystal hops. Awesome beer to drink in quantity.
1/13/2021 Very clear beer now. Crystal hops have faded a bit. Perhaps some more rye flavor. Keg won't last through the weekend.
1/15/2021 Keg blew tonight.
