Mr. Cowboy Gold Ale
Brewed: 8/19/2010 Kegged: 8/29/2010
Needed to use up some Mr. Beer HME / UME, and didn't really feel like getting too creative. Just a light blondish ale for us to drink as we see fit. Turned out pretty good. Personally, I think it could use some more hops, but it is not sickenly malty or sweet. Pretty decent mouth feel and very easy going down. Reminds me a lot of a Wetta Blonde. The beer model really likes it.

Brewing Notes
8/19/2010 Brewed it up real quick on a Thursday night. My OG was real high... unless I measured it wrong. Have no idea where my extra gravity points would have come from. Maybe I thought I read 1.064 when I actually read 1.054. Anyway, pitched at 60. Put it in cold cooler, but took out ice bottles. We'll see what happens.
8/19/2010 Double checked the OG. I was right. Tried putting the recipe in Q-Brew and got 1.063 as the OG, so I'm thinking I put something in wrong into Beer Smith. Can't quite figure out what it is, though.
8/19/2010 Ok... if I put the Booster in as an extract instead of an adjunct, I get the right OG. Wow. It will be interesting to see how this beer turns out. I'll bet the Beer Model will like it.
8/22/2010 Krasen looks to be dissipating. Took out of cooler to let the yeasties stay warmish to finish up. Did a pretty good job I think of keeping things cold until things started slowing down.
8/23/2010 Took a little sample. Might be detecting a bit of fusel... but just a bit (if it is there at all). Temp up to 72.
8/29/2010 1 cup water 2.25oz sugar. Got 12 12 oz. 2 liter bottles. 1 1/2 gallon growler and a pint bottle. Nice gold color. Sample was good. Could use more hops I think, but we knew that with this recipe.
9/13/2010 Put one in the beer fridge and the rest in the conditioning cooler.
9/15/2010 Tried one. Got the Mr. Beer taste ... interesting since I did not use the MrB yeast. Probably could use some hops. Good beer. Probably not great. Will let this condition a bit.
9/25/2010 Just remembered my comment about the "fusel". That is certainly gone. Nice mouth-feel. Beautiful gold color. The malty sweetness is there. My initial response was that it needed more hops, but this is actually exactly what I think it should be. And the beer model really likes it.
