Shoddy Pale Ale
Brewed: 7/24/2022 Kegged: 7/27/2022

I had just brewed a Lithuanian Lovin' Wheat, which meant I also had some of my Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast freshly built up from a yeast starter. Generally, my turn-around time for beers using that Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast have always been quick, even when I don't ferment at the ridiculously high fermentation temperatures that most of these beers have been fermented at.
I had been listening to a "Short and Shoddy" episode from Brülosophy's podcast, and wondered if I could get a brew day in less than 2 hours.
I was fairly sure to get any kind of decent mash efficiency, I'd have to do an overnight mash to accomplish the brew day in less than two hours.
So, this "Short and Shoddy" used an overnight mash with a half hour boil to cut brew-day time down.
The beer itself was designed to be fairly hoppy with hops I had in my freezer. Columbus, Centennial, and Galena. The Lithuanian yeast esters compliment the citrus notes from these hops.
It was a delicious hoppy beer with a quick turn-around.
Batch 2, I meant to use the Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast, but for whatever reason the yeast didn't start up. I ended up running the LHBS and picking up some Voss Kveik Ale Yeast so it could ferment hot. (see Shoddy Pale Ale Take II (Batch 294) )
Batch 3, was a last - minute brew day with my parents. I simplified the recipe a little for this one.

Brewing Notes
7/24/2022 Unexpected brew day today. My parents were in town and my dad suggested that I show them (mostly my mom) how I brew. I picked this recipe out, brought the parents to Tom's Brew Shop, and did the brew day with them. Interesting to do such a last-minute brew day. It went fine. I neglected to take many pictures or to get a OG measurement. Just assuming I hit my numbers.
7/25/2022 Fermentation started out sometime yesterday afternoon and was rocking at bedtime. This morning, it is already slowing down. The garage temps fell lower than usual last night, so I hope that didn't affect the yeast. Today should be hot so we'll see if it picks up again.
7/25/2022 Threw the tilt in. 1.009 at 84. Based on the estimated FG,this actually might be done with attenuation. Still pretty cloudy and a thin layer of kraussen, so I'll give it at least a couple days to clean up.
7/26/2022 Tilt says 1.008 at 80 degrees. Kraussen gone. A bit less hazy. Will probably keg tomorrow or Thursday.
7/27/2022 Tilt still at 1.008 at 78. Brought the fermenter inside. Will probably keg sometime today.
7/27/2022 Kegged. Measured FG at 1.008 after adjusting for temperature. Interesting that the Tilt was right on this time. Great flavor even at such a high temperature. Ended up dry hopping 1.5 oz rather the 1 planned. Chilling in the beer fridge.
7/28/2022 Poured a pint from the keg. Ugly cloudy, but a lot of that is the typical first-pour sediment. Really aromatic hops. I'm really going to love this beer as it settles and clarifies a bit. It also needs carbonation.
8/28/2022 Killed the keg. Didn't last long. Wonderful while it lasted.
