Sunny Rise Wheat

Brewed: 3/1/2020 Kegged: 3/14/2020

sunnyrise.jpgIn February of 2019, the brewery had mostly dark and hoppy beers on tap. The SheppyBrew Beer Model was actually drinking commercial beers.

So, I decided it was time to brew a wheat beer.

Of course, I could have gone with the old standard Summer Lovin' American Wheat base with something added ... but this time I decided to try something a little different.

Rather than honey malt, I threw in some Golden Naked Oats.

I also took out any honey and spices. I decided to hop it like the Ello Poppet Czech Pilsner, which my wife has really enjoyed whenever I've made it.

We were coming up on Lenten season, so I thought about calling it Easter Ale, or maybe even Sonrise Ale, but decided to stay away from a religious themed name.

Sunny Rise sort of seems like a close tie in with the old Summer Lovin' American Wheat series of beers and sort of the Easter theme.

The days were getting longer and longer and Spring is close to being upon us.
